Raul Duarte Salgueiral Gomes Campilho is a Permanent Associate Professor with Habilitation at the School of Engineering, ISEP, Porto, Portugal, specializing in Applied Mechanics. He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from ISEP, a Master’s and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from FEUP, both with distinction, and a Habilitation in Mechanical Engineering also from FEUP.
Since 2003, he has taught across institutions including ISEP, FEUP, and ULP, covering subjects such as Finite Element Method, Mechanics of Materials, Machine Design, and Industrial Automation. He has supervised 6 Ph.D. theses at FEUP, 3 Ph.D. theses at ISEP, nearly 300 M.Sc. theses, and over 50 B.Sc. theses.
Prof. Campilho is a prolific author, with 58 books, 196 book chapters, and over 420 papers in indexed international journals in areas such as fracture mechanics, composite materials, and adhesive joint design. He has delivered 70 keynote lectures and over 800 conference papers worldwide, and serves as Editor-in-Chief of Academia Materials Science Journal, with extensive guest editorial experience.
He has organized 10 international conferences, moderated more than 120 technical sessions, and contributed to 370 scientific committees. His research involvement includes projects funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology and the European Commission, where he has also acted as principal investigator.
